Special Event ( Hanseatic DAY!)

Today we will be focusing on something pretty interesting about the Hanseatic League. Every year from June 21 until the 24th a city is chosen from the Hanseatic league to host and celebrate Hanseatic Day. On June 21st - 24th, the city of Rostock will be hosting the jubilee (traditional) festival called Hanseatic Day. This jubilee as they call it in the The Hanseatic Day 2018 article will actually be the 800th anniversary of this festival. I find it interesting that this tradition goes back to the medieval ages, since 1358 to be exact. This event is set up to to bring visitors, businesses and other organisations together and each year a different city of the Hanseatic League hosts the event. The event will have a back-in-time effect on you, because of the old fashioned buildings around, the traditional clothing, and the traditional trading ships. That's right traditional trading SHIPS! That will be entering the dock to sell goods just like the good old'n days.

    800th anniversary is a long time. That is amazing how they can keep this up and continuing the tradition.

    It's amazing and interesting to see that this kind of festival has lasted so long. Since a different city is chosen every year, you can probably expect a variety of new and old traditions that'll take place.

    How do they choose, which city will host the event? Do the cities have to apply like for the Olympics or does it follow a certain logarithm?

Today we will be talking about the effect that Brexit has on the Hanseatic League. Many of the medium to smaller countries are starting to realize that they need to make their voices heard in response to the recent departure. There are arguments for the UK both leaving and staying, but when involved in the EU the UK was more liberal in their approach, and pushed for more trade between countries, and those trying to liberalize trade in the EU will find it harder without them. Thus the Hanseatic League and others might have a more difficult time trading. While the departure of the UK will hurt the EU, due to the leader role that the country held. The remaining EU countries do have similar economic goals, including dynamic competition on a single market, and the need for national budgetary responsibility within the EU. Finish Trade

Finish trade was organized in such a manner that it engaged many of the Finish peasants who played a very central role in building the economy of the coastland between Viipuri and the Gulf of Bothnia. Among the products which were traded between Finland and the Hanse included meat, butter, fish, livestock, domestic artifacts, cloth, firewood, and timber (Simms, & Clarke, 2015). Finland had several trade towns some of which were located in the coastlines. These towns served as main entry points for imported goods and exporters of Finnish products. The trade between the German merchants and the peasant traders in Finland was considered as a lively interaction that did not necessarily follow the official trade regulations in the Hanseatic League. -Hamad Sources:  Simms, A. & Clarke, H.
